Teatro de Sants
Barcelona, Spain | Fall 2014
Sants is a neighborhood divided. Located on the southwest side of Barcelona, an above-ground Metro Line was constructed that effectively cut the neighborhood in half, with few access points to cross. I was asked to put forth a proposal about how to stitch the community back together. Teatro de Sants was my solution: a floating, black-box theater that combines restaurant and assembly uses to attract patrons and allow them to circulate underneath the theater and up into the main atrium, effectively creating a new access point to cross the divide. The first step of a larger park system designed to rectify the chasm, Teatro de Sants is a catalyst for change in Sants.
