The Performance Center at Allerton Park was designed as an addition to an existing music program that is currently hosted at the retreat center. Park directors were looking for a more permanent solution to host concerts as well as increase them in capacity. The Allerton Performance Center looks to fill this program gap by providing a permanent outdoor music venue with seating for 500, with the capability to expand to 1,500.

Located at the edge of the woods, the Performance Center occupies a depression in the meadow, allowing the surrounding hillside to act as natural seating.
A jagged, sculptured design of the bandshell roof and support spaces was pursued, creating the sense that the building is a work of art among the many sculptures and mosaics located in Allerton Park.
The roof begins at the ground and cantilevers out to form one continuous piece.
